Families with children
The death of Abel is portrayed |
|
From Stephen Schwartz (Godspell
and Pippin) and John Caird of Les Misérables comes
a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children
and faith . . . not to mention centuries of unresolved
family business!
Freely based on the story of Genesis, Children Of Eden is
a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the
age-old conflict between parents and children. Adam, Eve,
Noah and the “Father” who created them deal with the
headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective
children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet but
inspiring message: that "the hardest part of love is letting
go." Children Of Eden appeals to both religious and
non-religious audiences, and the melodic, energetic score is
a mix of pop, folk, rock, reggae, gospel, Broadway and
powerful choral moments with beautiful and moving solos. |

Families with children |

The lovable Clampett family rides onto the stage for an evening of
hillbilly hilarity. With a humble beginning in the Clampett's
mountain cabin, the play follows them through the discovery of
oil, their improbable invasion of hi-falutin' Beverly Hills
society, and the absurd adventures and ridiculous romances they
encounter there. They and the people they meet in "Californy"
provide endless laughs and good family fun. |

A young bride who lives above
a bank with her husband who is the assistant manager of the
bank, innocently sends off a mail order for some
Scandinavian glassware. What comes is much less innocent,
Scandinavian pornography. The plot revolves around what is
to be done with the shady postcards, books, films and
eventually call girls that threaten to engulf this happy
couple. The matter is considerably complicated by the
mother-in-law, the man's boss, a visiting bank inspector, a
policeman and a muddled friend who does everything wrong in
his reluctant efforts to set everything right, all of which
works up to a hilarious ending. This farce ran in London
over eight years and also delighted Broadway audiences. Note
to parents: The play is rated PG-13 for language only. There
is no nudity. |

Death, some language |

In this retelling of Robert
Louis Stevenson's classic novel, Dr. Jekyll is introduced
just as he is on the brink of discovering the key to man's
inner self, his true duality. One evening he experiments on
himself and finds that his formula works. Unfortunately, his
true self turns out to be the monster Edward Hyde. Jekyll
continues his research, spending more and more time as Hyde
until Hyde is eventually able to take over and control
Jekyll for limited periods of time. Jekyll's fiancée and
friends slowly become aware of the dark changes in him but
they are powerless to help. Jekyll finds it more and more
difficult to keep Hyde at bay, and his initial delight about
his discovery soon turns to despair. When Hyde brutally
murders one of the young maids, he realizes his experiment
has gone too far, and he struggles with the only possible
course of action left to him.
